Coffee Trends in South-East Europe
Coffee business in South-East Europe is growing and changing. Many manufacturers and distributors already grow in a growing market. Would you like to join them?
There are three important trends in coffee consumption in SEE:
People drink more coffee. Data show that 10 countries of South-East Europe (population just over 50 million) consume just about the same amount of coffee as Italy, about 3.2 kg/capita and a total over 160,000 tones.
Espresso and single-serve coffee is growing. Traditionally people in the Balkans drink “Turkish” style, low quality, mostly Robusta, coffee. But since the fall of Communism, espresso coffee is becoming more popular and espresso imports are growing.
Customers are becoming more demanding. As consumers are becoming better educated, they demand higher quality coffee that opens a number of high-end and specialty niches.
The Organizer has intentionally excluded Greece form this fair reach. Due to many other parameters, Greece does belong to the South-east European and Mediterranean classifications, but when it comes to coffee, Greece is so unique and different from other countries.
